Queen of Hearts

Hi Guys!

I'm attending a party that my friend is holding in a couple weeks and it's Alice in Wonderland themed!
I've been given the option of portraying the Queen of Hearts in my own way! IDEAS

So I'm going to create my own customised costume for it (I don't have the money to buy one off the internet...and I want it to look authentic!). So I'm trying to think of interesting and preferably cheap ideas for a costume!

I'm thinking, instead of having a huge long ball gown, I'll get a red and black 50's style swing dress which isn't too long or short. I'm thinking of over doing heart necklaces (to emphasize this obviously!) and I still have to make some crown of some sort.... also I would like to bring a rose...(because the Queen demands the white ones are painted red) or a flamingo (because she loves crochet and plays with a flamingo!).

Any ideas would be gladly welcomed, as I still have time to make items of clothing for it.

I'm tempted by the idea of fashioning something out of a real pack of cards. I'll maybe scatter them on the dress...or make a neck piece out of them? Any ideas?
